Terms of Service

Last updated: [DATE]

Not legal advice, not final. This draft is written to reflect what SyncPoint actually does today, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it reviewed before relying on it with real users or real payments - particularly the governing-law, liability, and refund sections, which vary by where you're incorporated and where your users live.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SyncPoint (the "Service"), operated by [YOUR LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What the Service does

SyncPoint is a desktop application and companion website that:

  • Captures a screenshot of your screen (only when you actively trigger it) and sends it, along with your question, to a third-party AI model to generate an answer
  • Optionally searches the web via a third-party search provider to ground its answers in current information
  • Lets you save short local video clips of your own gameplay, stored on your own device
  • Lets you share text notes with a small group of other users you choose to squad up with ("Squad" features)

Answers are generated by an AI model and may be incomplete, outdated, or simply wrong. Don't rely on them for anything where being wrong has real consequences.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use most features. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service - if we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we'll close it.

3. Subscription plans and billing

  • SyncPoint offers a free tier and paid tiers ("Pro," "Squad") billed monthly through Stripe, our payment processor
  • We never see or store your full card number - Stripe handles that directly
  • You can cancel anytime through the billing portal linked in your account settings; your paid features remain active through the end of the billing period you already paid for
  • We don't currently offer refunds for partial months, except where required by law
  • We may change subscription pricing with advance notice; continuing to use a paid tier after a price change takes effect means you accept the new price

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Try to extract, reverse-engineer, or otherwise obtain the API keys or credentials that power the Service
  • Use automated tools to send an abnormally high volume of requests
  • Use the Service for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, or abuse other users (including through Squad notes)
  • Attempt to resell or sublicense access to the Service

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including for non-payment or abuse of the free tier's usage limits.

5. Your content

Notes you write and share with your Squad remain visible to the other members of that Squad until you delete them or leave. Clips you save stay on your own device - we don't receive or store them. You're responsible for what you write and share through the Service.

6. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it will be available at all times, free of bugs, or that AI-generated answers will be accurate. Use your own judgment, especially for anything with real stakes.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose.

8. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or discontinue the Service entirely with reasonable notice.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR STATE/COUNTRY], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
